Fahrenheit 451 Essay, Research Paper

Fahrenheit 451 Fahrenheit 451 is a book written by Ray Bradbury. There are two main characters in the book. Montag and Mildred who are husband and wife. Ray Bradbury shows a couple that might be drifting away from each other or maybe never had a true love for one another to begin with. Maybe this is all because of technology engulfing their lives and not allowing them to express themselves or to be creative and spontaneous, all necessary qualities for a relationship. But the love was there and it did shine through when it was put to the test. I didn t mean to startle you, what I want to know is, when did we meet? Quotes like these show that they really never had time to think on their own not even about the ones they cared for. Only when Montag started to question his existence did he think of questions like these. Montag himself was caught up in the rapid world of the future. He would go to work everyday and do something that in the back of his mind he knew was not right. He knew he was destroying something important if a person would sacrifice their lives just to keep those things! Those things they called books, and it was tearing him up inside. Mildred, all she could do each day just to stay alive, just to give her world some meaning was stay tuned to the television and see what was happening n

ext with the relatives . She had no time for a husband, how could she when she had to handle Aunt Suzie s and Uncle Bob s next breakup. Maybe neither had time for the other. However in the end love did come out. When you spend your life with someone and you face the world and you do it all together, then your going to love that person. I remember. Chicago. Chicago a long time ago. Millie and I. That s where we met! You see he really did love her and he missed her when she was gone.

Maybe they didn t have that intense love for each other as some people do, but they did have love and it almost brought them back together. Maybe Mildred really did love Montag too, because she knew he was getting in over his head and maybe that s why she turned him in. Who knows, but I do know this, they would never see each other again. It was sad to see them have to end like that but Montag had found a new love, it was the love of books. He would spend the rest of his life wondering the planet looking for answers that maybe he might not ever find. Is this love better? Some might say so, maybe he never deserved a wife and he should be put to the life of a bum and who cares what happens to him. No, I think he tried hard in that relationship and he did his best but he just couldn t pull though. Yes, he tried to make it work but how much can one person do?
